Guest House Sakichi is located in a small city in Beppu, Japan. Owned & managed by two amazing elderly couples who wanted to open their doors to tourists and experience authentic Japanese hospitality and the small city life in Japan. We had to understand and capture the feeling one would get from spending a night in the house and convey that feeling online.
Omotenashi is the essence and the main word for Japanese hospitality. For GH Sakichi, we wanted to bring the feeling of staying at a guest house and not an Airbnb. With them also looking to increase their check in rate, without compromising the experience. We had to focus on those who are looking for a retreat from the busy city life to a more relaxed, calm paced style of life.
We focused on storytelling, combined with strategic use of typography to convey the look and feel of staying in an authentic Japanese house. By starting with their website, and finishing it with marketing to increase reach and visibility across other platforms, we were able to capture what is needed to drive the right people into the guest house.
After launching the website and designing the marketing strategy. We have partnered with GH Sakichi to closely monitor prgoress and optimize as we go. We were able to triple the sales in a matter of three months from starting the marketing strategy. Attracting mainly their ideal customers who till this day enjoy hosting in their cozy house.
